Remember the first soy burger? For years all we had from soy was a meal which was used in soy burgers for example, and they weren't very good. It also made a terrible shake. But due to today's technology the soy protein tastes good. And they were able to make it a high quality protein.
In the 90’s a manufacturer learned how to get the soy protein out of the soya plant.

The trick was to isolate the soy protein with out destroying it. So these proteins are called soy isolates. It is this soy protein isolate that is found in most soy protein products today like energy bars and shakes.
