Shakes that help you gain weight are called gainers. Most gainers have high calories, fats and carbs, to help you put on weight fast. But these calories are worth it, because the proteins are targeted to build muscle not fat!

These amounts are for only 1 scoop, so check the last column to see how many scoops are in a serving.
For example,True Mass has 630 calories per serving, because it uses 3 scoops for each serving. These types of products are to be used 3 or 4 times a day and come in bottles affectionately called "buckets" of 2 to 7 pounds.
True-Mass gets 2 servings per pound so you can’t get it in a 1 pound bottle it only comes in 5.75 pounds.
I’ve also included the protein sources, just in case your body has a problem with one of them. If so start with small amounts until you know how you will react.
Look at the proteins checked on your list. Do any of them include a source of protein that you might be sensitive to? Most of shakes have enzymes etc to help you digest this much protein… so if your only problem is digestion, you may want to give them a try…. just go slow …. maybe less than the recommended serving at first.
Now look at the function of each protein and keep reading.

When a protein shake says it has a sustained release, it usually means it has a mixture of different types of proteins that are digested at different speeds and therefore released into the blood stream at different times. For example on the protein page, we discussed Casein which was very slow to digest while Whey was easily digested and rushed into the blood stream quickly. When multiple proteins are mixed your body could have access to protein for hours.
When a protein shake says it is a meal replacement, it means it has enough balanced nutrition that it could be use by itself as a meal. While some shakes are formulated for balance others are targeted just for a specific goal, such as weight gain, muscle repair, muscle growth, etc.
And there are some very good tasting protein bars that you can eat between meals etc to help bulk up … you can find my favorite at "My favorite protein bars".
Next look at "Wow…How many Scoops". There you can see how much of your protein you are supposed to use and how long a bottle will last. You may want to try out your second best if it is more economical.
Here is the comparison chart for all the original proteins …
