Who needs a post workout drink and why?

If you wake up sore.

  • If you wake up the next morning and are sore from yesterdays exercise, then you have done some damage to your muscle.

  • If you are still sore 2 – 3 days after a work out you have done a lot of damage to your muscles.

If you get sore while you are exercising you need to stop!  You are doing damage now, and you need to address it.

You may have something called DOMS, which is not what we are talking about on this page.

Here is what bodybuilder Clayton South has to say about DOMS ..

"Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS) is a debilitating and painful condition. It is often confused with regular muscle soreness, but regular muscle soreness and DOMS differ fundamentally."

Why are you sore?

When you exercise your body breaks down anything it can into sugars.

  • The sugars are then 'burned' to provide energy for the muscle you are working.  This 'burn' is measured in calories.
  • That is how 20 reps burns calories.
  • First your body will burn sugars from the food consumed before your workout.  Maybe your breakfast for example or just any sugar unused in your body.  Then it starts to convert carbs from your meal into sugar.

What happens next depends on the amount of fat you have in your body!

  • If you have a lot of fat your body will start to turn your fat into the sugar it needs, and will continue to do so until you lose most of your fat.
  • This is how 20 reps burn calories and fat disappears!

If you are lean?

  • If you have lost enough fat to be called lean, then the body will at some point start to destroy muscle, turning it into the sugar it needs.
  • This is not what you want!  You want the body to burn something else. You don't want to  lose muscle you want to build muscle.
  • This is where the pre workout drink comes in! It protects your muscles with amino acids and provides what the body with what it needs to burn.

Two different reasons to be sore the next morning.

  • If you still have fat to lose and wake up sore the next day you may have slightly damaged the muscle just by flexing it in a new way! This is not serious.
  • If you are lean however, your body may have destroyed muscle tissue to provide your body with the energy it needed to actually do the exercises.

The only way to tell for sure what is happening to you is with blood tests and biopsies.

The solution is simple .. if you wake up sore … have a post workout drink after your next workout to help your muscles to recover.

If you are shaking after a work out, these will usually stop that too.

The First And Only Post-Workout Anabolic Muscle Activator With Waxy Maize Starch!

Torrent sets a new standard for post-workout (PWO) nutrition. Though often overlooked, this part of the bodybuilding equation is the most critical aspect in the quest to foster new growth. Properly utilizing this time is vital for inducing overall muscle mass "activation". Simultaneously, the rate of protein degradation is also increased.
